Cultural-education center Kaštel is situated in the hotel itself and provides a unique display of the rich history of Motovun area and all of Istria, from the cultural and architectural heritage, Istrian customs and traditions, to the famous persons who have left their mark here. Many of these famous persons were the ones who found perfect peace and inspiration for great success here, such as the ex NASCAR champion Mario Andretti, artist Josip Šušteršić, and one of the greatest Croatian authors, Vladimir Nazor.
The distinctiveness of this cultural-education project lies in its interactivity. Visitors are provided with a fun and interesting program through which they can participate in various activities that represent the specific way of life that has gradually developed in Motovun, from its beginning until today.
Put your skills to the test and participate in the making of traditional Istrian pasta, starting with the production of flour on the old wooden mill, the creation of dough, to the handicraft of producing pasta. Cultural-education center Kaštel is not just a window to the past of Motovun and Istria, but more of a door through which you can pass and, at least for a short while, experience the way of living and existence of our ancestors.
