| "Motovun
ranch" not far from Brkać, west of
Motovun, a place where you can have a great time at
the riding school or set out together with the hosts
on an expedition on horseback through the Mirna valley
and surrounding area. Advance bookings can |
|
| be made at the Hotel
Kaštel reception. |
Kaldir, a place east of Motovun, on a
hillside above the Mirna valley and hamlets that extend
from Kaldir to the Mirna valley, is the most well known
Istrian fruit-growing region, especially renowned for its
pears. Spring transforms the entire Kaldir region into a
flowery sea made up of tens of thousands of flowering fruit
trees, with autumn bringing with it an abundance of fruits
and flavours. However, winter in the Kaldir region is also
interesting: this is the only parish in Istria which has,
right up to present times, preserved the tradition “kolejana”.
Kolejana are well-wishers who on the eve of the
religious holiday Epiphany call on every house in the parish
and wish everyone a good year with singing and collect gifts
– wine, eggs and sausages.
