Motovun which is very close to the most
frequented Adriatic tourist centres, the Istrian cities
of Poreč, Rovinj, Umag, is the favourite excursion destination
of tourists from Istrian hotels, but also the centre for
congress and cultural tourism. The solitude of the Motovun
hill, the peace and quiet, offer ideal conditions for concentrated
and undisturbed scientific work,
cultural, business
and other types of meetings. Other
than the closed areas used in winter, the hotel
terrace and gardens are favourable for such
activities.
The Hotel Kaštel has many years experience hosting local and international scientific gatherings, seminars, summer schools, workshops, artist colonies and literary manifestations and our long-time guests include members of numerous international universities, academies, scientific institutes, associations and non-government organisations.

Motovun is the headquarters
of the International research centre for late
Antiquity and early Middle ages. Art historians,
historians, archaeologists and other scientists, at
the beginning of summer, gather together in Motovun
for their annual scientific meeting and throughout summer
in Istria they carry out research of the cultural and
historical heritage. |
 |
At the beginning of
July, Motovun is host to the International summer
school for health improvement under the auspice
of the World health organisation (WHO) organised by
the school of public health "Andrija Štampar"
from Zagreb and annual gatherings of Croatian healthy
cities network. |

Because of its beauty
and the preserved nature of its architectural heritage,
Motovun decades earlier, attracted architects and other
experts who found here, incentive and inspiration to
research, protect and save Istrian architectural heritage
and for its international gatherings at
the Summer School of Architecture. |
In the year 2003 we hosted gatherings,
seminars and the summer school of the Croatian Helsinki
Committee (children's school for human rights), dramatic
colony of the Croatian centre ITI-UNESCO, Croatian journalists
society, International centre for the education of journalists
(ICEJ), General representative of the Mazda company for
Croatia, The Academy for dramatic arts, University of Zagreb
and the World bank.
