Just nearby Motovun, the 45° parallel crosses the Istrian peninsula, and being placed on the half way from the North Pole to the Equator, Motovun lays at the ideal climatic area of the north hemisphere. The middle annual temperature is 14 Celsius degrees, and in the summer 23 degrees. The air from the seaside reaches Motovun through the valley of the Mirna river, and brings the Mediterranean climate in this area. Most frequent winds in this area are jugo (southern wind) and bura (northern wind). During the summer, jugo is a gently wind from the sea to the coast which pleasantly refreshes the hot summer nights.
