PAZIN, town in the "heart" of Istria, is the capital of the Istrian County, 22 km far away of Motovun. His most valuable monuments - the thousand years old Castle and the gorge of Pazinska jama - were described by the famous French writer Jules Verne in his novel "Mathias Sandorf".

BERAM, a little town 16 km away from Motovun, is worldwide famous because of very valuable fresco-paintings made by Vincent from Kastav in the little church of St. Mary "na Škriljinah"

ISTARSKE TOPLICE in the valley of the Mirna river (about 10 km from Motovuna), is the place famous as the spa since the Roman times, with the springs of the hot sulphur water very reach with minerals. Surrounding is very nice for the walk and recreation. High rocks above the place are arranged for the sport free-climbing.

BUZET, famous as "The truffles town", is placed about 20 km to the north-east of Motovun.

ROČ  – about ten km from Buzet, is a little town built over the remains of the prehistoric fortress. Today this town has well preserved medieval city walls and gates, with the lapidary where the oldest cannon in Istria is kept - it's the Venetian "bombard" from 15th century. Roč is, just like Hum, important historical setting of the glagolitic literacy. Between this two towns there is "The avenue of glagolitic" arranged (1977-1981), with 10 monuments dedicated to this ancient letter.

HUM  – placed a couple of kilometers nearby Roč, and it's a little medieval town at the top of the hill which dominates in all surroundings, with ancient city walls, town gates, the city lodge and the parochial church. Hum is famous as "the smallest town in the world".

VIŠNJAN, about 10 km from Motovun, is famous because of it's Observatory, and it's astronomers are worldwide well known by their discoveries of a number of new asteroids.

The BAREDINE cave near Višnjan (about 15 km from Motovun) represents the beauty of Istrian underground and invites to the real adventure of speleology.

ROVINJ, about 50 km from Motovun, is a touristic town between Poreč and Pula. The famous 60 meters high church tower of the St. Euphemia in Rovinj is visible from a very long distance.

THE LIM BAY (or Lim channel) – this bay with it's beautiful landscape, protected since 1964 as the undersea reservation, is about 55 km away from Motovun. The Lim bay once was the canyon valley which was flooded by the sea. As an 11 km long entrance to the land, this bay is one of the most beautiful Istrian landscapes, the geomorphologic phenomenon with 150 meters high cliffs covered with vegetation. 

PULA (Pula), 68 km from Motovun, is the greatest town in Istria, placed at the very south of the peninsula. The ancient Roman Arena (amphitheatre) is a place where a lot of summer festivals and cultural events happens.

THE NATIONAL PARK OF BRIJUNI ISLANDS, nearby Fažana (about 60 km from Motovun) at the south-west of Istria, is the protected archipelago with the beautiful nature and cultural monuments from the most ancient times.
